'Bhoot Changle' staged at MDU Hall

Imphal, September 29 2026: The Dance Drama Music Repertory Union (DDMRU) staged its production "Bhoot Changle" at Manipur Dramatic Union (MDU) Hall, Yaiskul today, marking the culmination of its 30-day theatre workshop held under the CMAT scheme.

The closing ceremony was attended by eminent cultural personality Aribam Shyam as chief guest, JNMDA Director P Bilash as guest of honour and Art & Culture, Joint Director G Dharmadas as president.

DDMRU president Adhikarimayum Ranjit said the dance theatre art form is not widely explored and the workshop was organised under the CMAT scheme to produce a new dance theatre.

He said the form uses dance and drama to convey messages of inner feelings, desires and events, aiming to reform society.

Unlike Ras Leela or Lai Haraoba, dance theatre uses movement to provoke thought without necessarily using words, he said, adding that the Union will continue to produce such works in service of society.
