Imphal, October 28 2008: BOARDER ROAD Task Force, BRTF has been flayed by the state chief minister O Ibobi Singh and works minister K Ranjit on Monday for not properly maintaining the road from Mao to Maram which is under their authority.

The chief minister, following receipt of a report from works minister on the prevailing conditions of the portion of the section of the NH-39 hold a meeting with the commander of the 15 BRTF Colonel Sunil along with other top officials of the battalion in his office chamber today and scolded them, said works minister, K Ranjit.

Once BRTF is known for smooth speedy and quality control in maintaining roads but when during inspection he found the road condition the portion of the road from Maram to Moa is an awful condition and better by the other portion of the same highway handle by the state PWD, Ranjit said.

Mention may be made that the works for maintenance of 25 kilometer long section of the Nh-39 from Maram to Mao is handle by the 15 BRTF while the remaining portion from Maram to Imphal is handle by the state PWD.

Ranjit while talking to Hueiyen Lanpao today also mentioned that he had received complaints from public on the bad condition of the road in which he had given assurance to look into the matter and take up necessary action at the earliest.

The works minister also said that during the talk with the BRTF officials, it has been come to know that they (BRTF) could not repair the roads for such a long time due to the non-released of funds by the Centre.

BRTF showed documents related with a project proposal put up to the Centre for sanction times back during the meeting as proof for not enabling them to improve the road conditions.

Now, the centre released the funds to the BRTF and the works for improvement started, as informed by the commander, Ranjit said.

Ranijt also while citing development works take up by the state government said that Union ministry of DoNER had sanctioned Rs.12.30 crores for making a road at Khongman river at Thongju Assembly constituency under Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resource.
