Anti-drug/illicit trafficking dap observed across state

Imphal, June 26 2024:
In connection with the observance of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking; National Mental Health Programme, National Health Mission Manipur organised a targeted intervention cum screening programme at CC Higher Secondary School, here, on Wednesday.
The intervention programme organised especially for Class IX to XII students of the school was attended by principal Kh Memtombi Devi, National Mental Health Programme, NHM Manipur state nodal officer Dr Athokpam Reena Devi and Manipur Health Services former senior psychiatrist Dr H Angomcha who spoke about the importance for such observance and highlighted the ill effects of drug abuse on the mental well-being of not only the abusers but also of their family members.
Later, an interactive programme between students and state tele-MANAS cell clinical psychologist, psychiatric nurse, counsellor and NMHP clinical psychologists was conducted.
They also explained about MANAS toll free number 14416 where students can call if they have any queries regarding mental health issues.
1st MR also observed International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, 2024 on the theme 'The Evidence is Clear: Invest in Prevention' at the battalion campus on Wednesday with the participation of commandant Dr S Ibomcha, unit hospital medical officers Dr Kilabati and Dr Elvis, and battalion officers and personnel.
Narcotics and Affairs of Border and NCB, Imphal Unit also observed the day by organising a bike rally from Changangei to Khonghampat.
Around 35 bikers took part in rally covering Kanglapat road, North AOC, Khongnang Ani Karak and Koirengei en-route to Khonghampat.
Continuing its observance of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking from second week of June, NAB organised awareness programme at Bethel English School, while Mao police station along with CSOs observed the day at Mao Keithel.
On the other hand, Youth Red Cross of Royal Academy of Law, Oinam in collaboration with Paramount English School, Bishnupur organised a painting competition in connection with the observance at the school.
The inaugural programme was attended by Academy principal Eliza Maisnam, Paramount School principal Okram Jagat Singh and Law programme officer Chanambam Anjana Devi as presidium members.
Indian Psychiatric Society Manipur State Branch, JNIMS Department of Psychiatry, Lamyanba Irawat Memorial Integrated Trust (LIMIT), Manipur and Empowering Trans Ability (ETA) organised International day against Drugs Abuse and illicit Trafficking at JNIMS conference hall.
The observance presided over by JNIMS Psychiatry Department head and nodal officer OST professor Dr Koijam Santibala Devi was attended by medical superintendent Dr Kh Lokeshwor as chief guest, SATHI assistant director Randhoni Lairikyengbam, Apunba Manipur Kanba Ima Lup (AMKIL) president Lourembam Nganbi as guests of honour, Heingang police officer in charge K Abhijeet Singh, ETA president Oinam Hemba, Realise Rehabilitation Centre chief functionary Ole Wangkheimayum, Nongpok Leingak Apunba Nupi Lup general secretary Nongthombam Radhamani as special guests and JNIMS psychiatry department assistant professor Dr Nelson Loitongbam as resource persons.
RIMS Department of Psychiatry also observed the day at Dr Kamal Hall with medical superintendent Prof N Sanjib Singh as chief guest, Department of Psychiatry head Dr S Gojendra Singh, dean (academics) Prof Brogen Singh Akoijam and HoD of Clinical Psychology Dr Sameeta Ng as president and guests of honour.
On the other hand, Imphal East district administration and District Social Welfare officer launched 'Nasha Mukt Bharat campaign' as a part of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking at Imphal East DC complex.
A rally was taken out from Porompat DC road where Imphal East DC Khumanthem Diana, district social welfare officer Waikhom Thamapati, district administrative staffers, district police and students took part in the rally against drug abuse and illicit trafficking.
District Mental Health Programme, Thoubal along with Khangembam Tomba Memorial Trust, Thoubal Athokpam and Centre for Development Activities, Wangjing also observed the day at Royal Academy located at Wangjing in the presence of Thoubal chief medical officer Dr Y Nokul as chief guest, Royal Academy, Wangjing principal Tongbram Babulal as president, District Hospital, Chandel senior psychiatrist Dr Kh Robindro, DMHP, Thoubal district nodal officer Dr Jina Heigrujam and District Health Society, Thoubal district programme manager Th Basanta as guests of honour.
Meanwhile, a walkathon was jointly organised by Churachandpur district police and Zomi Students' Federation (ZSF-Ghq) on occasion of World Anti-Drugs Day 2024 under the theme "The Evidence is Clear: Invest in Prevention".
The walkathon was flagged off by Churachandpur SP Mohd Zaib Zakir from peace ground located at Tuibong, Churachandpur and was participated by students from different schools and police personnel where the participants took oath against drug abuse & illicit trafficking.
