Speaking to media persons regarding the suspected act of arson, internally displaced persons staying in the relief camp opined that burning of the house located close to the Borobekra police station despite deployment of state and central forces, including Assam Rifles could be an indication that more Meetei properties in the sub-division will also be targeted soon.

The displaced persons appealed to the central and state governments to look into the matter and direct security forces to conduct search operations to flush out Kuki/Hmar militants from the area, while pointing out that security forces deployed in the area should be instructed to protect lives and properties of the public 24/7, instead of demonstrating their presence from morning to evening and then resting at night.
