Girl kidnapped from Bishnupur rescued in Chandel

Imphal, June 25 2024:
A 24-year-old man, who reportedly kidnapped a 13-year-old girl on June 21, has been apprehended and the girl rescued by on Monday.
The kidnapper has been identified as Thokchom Roshan, s/o Thokchom Jawan of Uyumpok Mamang Leikai in Imphal East district.
According to report, Bishnupur police registered a case in connection with kidnapping a girl by Roshan from an area under Bishnupur police station.
During the course of investigation, it came to light that Roshan, along with the girl, had headed towards a village in Chandel district.
Based on the police input, Chandel police, 21 Assam Rifles and CSOs of Chandel launched search for the girl and succeeded in rescuing her with assistance from Khongjol village chief around 5:30 pm Monday.
Roshan was also apprehended by the team.
Chandel police handed over the girl and the kidnapper to the Bishnupur police station.
On the other-hand, PRO IGAR (S) informed that a joint team of Assam Rifles and Manipur Police rescued two individuals, one of whom was a teenage girl.
The duo, suspected to have moved towards Indo-Myanmar Border on June 22, went missing from Charlong village in Chandel district.
The joint team carried out an extensive search with local residents and found them at Khongjol village, Chandel.
To track down the missing persons, the team used all available tools, including drones, the PRO added in a release.
