Faculty induction programme begins

A weeklong Faculty Induction Programme for newly appointed faculty and scientists of constituent colleges of Central Agricultural University (CAU) Imphal, was inaugurated at the conference hall of College of Agriculture, CAU Imphal, Iroishemba on Friday.
The inaugural function was attended by CAU vice chancellor Dr Anupam Mishra as chief guest, director of Instruction Prof Indira Sarangthem as president, and director of Extension Education Prof Ph Ranjit Sharma, registrar Dr Tilak Raj Sharma and NAARM Hyderabad principal scientist Dr P Ramesh as guests of honour.
In his speech, Dr Anupam Mishra urged the new faculty members to properly utilise facilities in the university to develop the personality of the students and promote inter-institutional collaboration.
He then said that taking into account the academic development of students, both students and faculties/scientists need to identify the thrust area of subject groups and carry out structured research work.
Teachers also need to impart skill development amongst students to encourage entrepreneurship, he conveyed.
In all, 39 faculties from different constituent colleges are attending the induction programme, wherein experts from reputed national institutions including NAARM Hyderabad, IIT Guwahati, IIM Shillong, NIT Warangal, IIMC Kolkata, Manipur University and CAU will deliver 13 lectures on different areas of teaching and management.
