Imphal, November 23 2024:
On the 60th Raising Day of the proscribed organisation falling on November 24, the Central Committee of the Koireng led United National Liberation Front (UNLF) extended revolutionary greetings to all the Manipuris settled in and outside Manipur.
On behalf of the party and its military wing, the Central Committee of the Koireng led UNLF also extended its revolutionary honour to all the founder members of the party, cadres and all those martyred during the course of liberation movement.
The party also shared pains and suffering of all the people who have been forced out from their native villages and loitering in relief camps after armed Kukis, nurtured by India, waged war to break apart Manipur.
While extending revolutionary honour to all the Manipuris who died due to torture by Indian armed forces, the UNLF vowed to continue liberation movement till achieving goal while following the path choosen by the martyred revolutionaries.
On the occasion, the Central Committee of UNLF also sent out its annual statement to the people for discussion and deliberation.
According to the Central Committee's annual statement issued by publicity secretary M Shak-Hen, the present Manipur existed as a sovereign nation for a long time in Western South East Asia (WESEA) and it was developed by all the indigenous people of the land with the Meeteis shouldering the big responsibility in tackling challenges from within and outside during the course of its long history.
It stated that Manipur even had its own Constitution and it well known among the people that India annexed Manipur in 1949.Since then, India's policy to permanently suppress the people of Manipur and make them slaves continues unabated.
"To achieve this goal, innumerable numbers of Indian Occupation Force (IOF) are being deployed in Manipur and imposed draconian laws like AFSPA 1958 to torture innocent civilians in the name of tackling armed, revolutionaries.
Apart from this, India destroyed indigenous economy to put Manipur permanently relient to India and forced the region into a captive market.
At the same time, India is trying to extract and export precious mineral resources of the region like oil, uranium, chromite, precious stones and bauxite but people of the region are well aware of what India is doing," the annual statement of the UNLF said.
Elaborating on the righteousness of revolutionary movement, the annual statement of UNLF said revolutionary movement initiated by the party against India is about to complete 60 years with ups and downs during the course of revolutionary movement till date.
"However, people might think that the long revolutionary movement is going backward rather than moving forward and would also surely want to raise the query if the weakened revolutionary movement would not be able to restrengthen and move forward towards achieving goal.
It is quite reasonable to raise such a query but UNLF Central Committee's outlook is to promote and propagate the spirit of freedom and instill this spirit among the people both individually and at community level".
Accordingly, a more suitable query would be how far the people are prepared and ready to take decision at individual level for having dignified and noble life.
It is not an unimaginable dream for the people of Manipur to get freedom and many colonised people across the globe got freedom from their colonial powers in the middle of the 20th century and this fact, is worth remembering by the people, it said.
According to the annual statement of UNLF, there are three key requirements/conditions for the success of revolutionary movement in Manipur.
"The first requirement is to have unity of revolutionary groups, indigenous people and people's unity but this requirement remains incomplete at present.
The second requirement is breaking down of India from within with the rising contradiction India had during the time of its formation like the conflict between Dravidian South and Aryan North, Hindu-Muslim conflict and class struggle between the rich and wealthy sections and peasants' section.
The third requirement is India getting alone among the global countries and this condition for India is beginning to emerge though gradually".
Another plus point is that global countries are now beginning to realise the righteousness of return of sovereignty- for Manipur.
Among the three requirements, the unity of Manipur from within is the most important one but this condition remains incomplete as of now.
However, the UNLF firmly believes that historical impact will surely bring unified strength in due course of time and the party will continue to put efforts to have unity and unified strength.
