CM urged to clear air on CRPF deployment

Imphal, September 23 2024: Reacting to the recent reports in newspapers and broadcast on TV as well as related post by the chief minister on his Facebook page about deployment of CRPF at Nongpok Sekmai police station, several organisations of Nongpok Sekmai have urged the CM to clear the confusion by specifying exact area of deployment of the CRPF in Nongpok Sekmai.

A release issued jointly by Apunba Meira Paibi Lup (AMPAL) and North Eastern Sporting Association (NESA), Nongpok Sekmai conveyed that upon enquiry at Nongpok Sekmai PS, the OC concerned clarified that there is no information about deployment of CRPF at the police station and no construction is being taken up for their accommodation.

Moreover, as the Geo tag of the photo of Nongpok Sekmai uploaded by CM indicates Khangabok, people of Nongpok Sekmai and nearby areas are confused and anxious, the release stated, while reiterating that the CM clarify on the matter.

Pointing out that a BSF battalion is already stationed at Nongpok Sekmai police station in view of the unrest situation, the joint release stated that there is no need for deployment of additional central forces like CRPF at the moment and further urged for deployment of state forces in case of necessity to enhance security cover in the area.
