Abducted Mizos released

Two Mizos-- Sangliangthanga and Lalzamliana who had been abducted by Tripura-based National Liberation Front of Tripura and Bru National Development Liberation Front of Mizoram (BNDLFM) on November 23 last year have been finally released after 60 days of being held hostage, police sources said.
A non-Mizo Deep Mandal, however, has not been released yet.
On November 23 last year, Sanglianthanga s/o Vanlalhmuaka, a taxi driver from Mamit and Lalzamliana s/o Buanga, Pickup truck driver of Zuangtui Muanna Veng, Aizawl and Deep Mondal s/o Nikil Mondal, an engineer from Airtel Company were abducted by the two militant outfits from Old Chikha Anti Poaching camp between Damparengpui and Rajiv Nagar village along Tripura-Mizoram and Bangladesh border in Mamit district.
The abductors demanded Rs 5 crore as ransom from the Mizoram government.
As per the latest official press release this evening, the two Mizos kidnapped two months ago have been released yesterday (Monday) around 3:30 p.m.and have entered Mizoram by 11:30 a.m.Tuesday.
This was said by Mizoram Home minister R Lalzirliana, who convened meeting at New Secretariat conference room here in the state capital deliberating over the abduction issue.
It is still not clear whether the ransom was paid by the state government to the abductors.
