Meritorious students, sportspersons felicitated

Imphal, August 21 2022: Different organisations and local clubs felicitated meritorious students, who cleared the HSLCE and HSE 2022 in flying colours, as well as sportspersons in different parts of the state on Sunday.

Okram Sagei Apokpa Trust organised its State cum Okram Sagei Level Meritorious Award 2022 distribution along with felicitation of outstanding sportspersons in different disciplines such as fencing, hockey and football at Singjamei community hall, here on Sunday.

DM University vice-chancellor Professor N Rajmuhon and DM College of Commerce former principal Dr Okrain Kumar attended the function as the presidium members.

Speaking on the occasion, Trust secretary O Mangi informed that the trust has been felicitating HSLCE and HSE top three position holders as well as meritorious students of Okram family since 2003.Outstanding sportsperson are also honoured as part of the programme with the objective to encourage them and nurture future players of the state, he added.

Apart from the students and players, the trust also presented cash assistance and citatiort to destitute elderly women (Okram Ningol), eldest man and woman of Okram family as well as Okram families' eldest woman vendor in Khwairamband Keithel on the occasion.

On the other hand, United Club and Library (UCAL) Uripok felicitated meritorious students of the area under the jurisdiction of the Club, who cleared the class 10 and 12 examinations conducted by BSEM, COHSEM and CBSE in a function held at UCAL community hall, Uripok Khwairak Shelungbam Leirak on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, Uripok MLA and Manipur Renewable Energy Development Agency chairman Khwairakpam Raghumani stressed on the role of parents and local elders in grooming good students.

He also announced to organise a free coaching camp for class 10 and 12 students of Uripok assembly constituency from either December this year or January next year.

UCAL president Ratan Luwangcha presided over the function while Imphal Municipal Corporation ward no 5 corporator Hajarimayum Bob by attended as guest of honour.

At the same time, Awang Sekmai Scheduled Caste Development Committee felicitated 81 meritorious students of Awang Sekmai area, who passed the HSLCE and HSE 2022 with 60 per cent and above marks during the 19th Meritorious Award Distribution function held at Awang Sekmai Koujengleima community hall on Sunday.

Imphal East district malaria officer Dr Usham Jugindro and Awang Sek mai Scheduled Caste Development Committee president Kh Surjamani attended the event as chief guest and president respectively while retired EO Angom Brajamani and retired government higher secondary principal Angom Nongyai were present as guests of honour.

Sekmai Khullakpa Kh Nilamani, Sekmai Development Committee vice-president Y Sarat, working vice-presidents Y Rajen, Kh Sanatomba and Kh Premjit also attended the event as special guests.

Mayai Lambi Development Organisation also organised the 7th Felicitation cum Prize Distribution ceremony in honour of meritorious students of HSLCE and HSE, and national players living in the area under the jurisdiction of the organisation at New Athletic and Voluntary Youth (NAVY) Club campus on Sunday.

DM University vice-chancellor Dr Rajmuhon, art and culture commissioner M Joy, NAVY Club advisory board president Maibam Chandan and chief conservator of forest Long-jam Joykumar attended the function as the presidium members.
