Kuki National Liberation Front/Kuki People's Army (KNLF/KPA) on Tuesday made it clear that it obtained the consent of both the Government and the local people to set up the outfit's designated camp at Semol village in Chandel district.
A statement issued by Kolphe Kuki, secretary, Information & Publicity, KNLF/KPA blamed the United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) for the stiff opposition from the public and social organisations to the establishment of the designated camp at Semol that falls under Khengjoy subdivision.
Both KNLF/KPA and UKLF are signatories to suspension of operation (SoO) involving the State and Central Governments.
The statement alleged that UKLF has been opposing the plan out of jealousy.
UKLF has been putting pressure on CNPO and CDNKJC to protest against the establishment of the designated camp, it charged.
KNLF/KPA appealed to the public not to allow themselves be swayed away by other underground groups or civil society bodies in the matter.
The designated camp is to be established for the good of both the public and KNLF/KPA, it maintained.
