Pallel, April 19 2026:
In a significant stride towards bridging information gaps and enhancing regional connectivity, Assam Rifles launched a Community Radio Station (CRS) at Pallel Garrison.
Established under Operation Sadbhavana, the station is aptly named 'Radio Highway' with the tagline 'Pallel ki Vaani'.
According to a release issued by the IGAR (South), the initiative is designed to overcome the challenges posed by Manipur's difficult terrain and limited mobile connectivity by providing a reliable platform for local news, weather updates and government welfare schemes.
The project is deeply rooted in community empowerment, as the entire station is operated by local youth.
From content creation to the technical management of programs, these young individuals are at the helm, gaining valuable communication skills and employment opportunities.
Currently functioning as an internet-based service, the station is accessible via dedicated applications on the Android Play Store and Apple App Store.
Plans are already underway to upgrade it into a full-fledged radio station upon the allotment of a frequency by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
To ensure professional standards, the station is led by a seasoned Radio Jockey and content creator from Lucknow who brings extensive industry experience from platforms like Bharat FM and BIG FM.
Alongside a skilled sound engineer, he mentors the local staff and emerging Radio Jockeys, fostering a sense of ownership within the community.
Beyond broadcasting information on agriculture, health and education, 'Radio Highway' serves as a cultural hub for local traditions and stories.
By involving the local youth in every aspect of the station, the initiative reinforces the bond between Assam Rifles and the local population, promoting youth engagement and empowerment as well as trust and harmony through a shared local voice.
