Imphal, May 18 2024:
Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA) halted the on-going admission process in colleges under Manipur University as it causes inconveniences to the students and further demanded issuance of a fresh notification for admission.
In a release, KSA secretary general Sanjoy Khulakpam pointed out that with the declaration of Class 12 exam results, colleges under Manipur University began admission process for pursuing PG courses and issued deadline for completion of admission process.
However, the on-going admission process has added more burden to the students, he contended, while explaining that the price of the prospectus along with form is Rs 300 and student is not allowed to choose two subjects.
So, a student who wanted to choose two subjects has to buy two prospectus and forms spending Rs 600.There is no need for students to take two prospectuses to admit in a college.
So, the body stopped the ongoing admission process and demanded issuance of new notification for the process by fixing a new fee which is approved by all, he added.
Considering the present situation in the state, which is still reeling under the impact of the on-going ethnic conflict, department concerned should leave the notion that it was done from previous years also.
He urged authorities concerned to reduce fees for admission forms as people are facing financial inconveniences because of the conflict and further exhorted to allow students to choose two subjects by a single form.
Moreover, he appealed to the colleges to provide free admission form and admission fees for the displaced students.
Colleges should bear all the consequences if they disregard the appeal of the student body and continue to burden the students, Sanjoy cautioned.
