A 'Parivartan Centre' under the 'See A Million' campaign, which will impart training to people with vision impairment using latest technology, has been opened on Sunday at the office of Welfare Association for the Blind, Manipur (WABM), Takyel.
The inauguration function of the 'Parivartan Centre' jointly organised by WABM and Enable India, Bengaluru was attended by Social Welfare minister Heikham Dingo as chief guest.
Speaking at the event, minister Dingo expressed elation that people with vision impairment are being given various facilities under the 'See A Million' campaign with the utilisation of latest technologies.
He also thanked WABM for providing facilities to visually impaired people towards making them acquainted with modern technologies to work and live like normal people.
According to Dingo, no one is perfect and no one fulfils their cherished dream in this world but a human being has to do something significant in life for the society.
He also said that time has come to replace use of 'Person With Disabilities' with 'Person With Abilities' so that they could live like normal people in the society as there is nothing a human can do in life if they have the determination.
The minister also expressed hope that the centre opened on Sunday will help people with vision impairment a lot.
The function was also attended by deputy director (social welfare) AS Robinson and Enable India founder and chief enabler Shanti Raghavan.
Altogether 11 people with vision impairment who excelled in academics, art & culture and sports were felicitated with presentation of gifts on the occasion.
