DLSA Chandel observes World Elder Abuse Awareness Day

Chandel, June 15 2026: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Chandel, under the joint aegis of National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA), observed "World Elder Abuse Awareness Day" at Laiching Kangshang village in Tengnoupal district and at ABCD Old Age Home, Khuninglung village in Chandel district.

The programme was organised in association with KANMUCOS Ltd (SHG) as part of the implementation of thematic activities under NALSA's JAGRITI Scheme 2025, which focuses on the rights, empowerment and dignity of senior citizens.

At the observation programme held at Laiching Kangshang village, P Phungshimdar Dangsha, Case Worker of the One Stop Centre, Tengnoupal district, attended as resource person.

Meanwhile, Keishang Kopham Kanshouwa, Remand Advocate, served as the resource person during the programme conducted at ABCD Old Age Home.

Khuninglung village.

During the awareness session, the resource persons highlighted various provisions of the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007, and sensitised participants on the legal rights, welfare measures, and protections available to senior citizens.
