Mangka Mayanglambam calls on Governor

Imphal, October 13 2025: Mangka Mayanglambam, noted folk artist of Laihui, along with six others, called on Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Raj Bhavan, Imphal, today.

As per a release issued by PRO Raj Bhawan, Mangka briefed the Governor about certain activities of Laihui in preserving and promoting Manipur's indigenous music and performing arts, particularly the Pena, a traditional Manipuri string instrument that embodies the cultural heritage of the State.

The folk artist also discussed the ongoing efforts to obtain a Geographical Indication (GI) tag for the Pena and sought support for initiatives that encourage young artists to uphold and promote the State's rich cultural traditions.

The Governor appreciated their work in safeguarding Manipur's folk traditions.
