Aids distributed to differently-abled

An awareness camp and aid distribution event, themed "Empowering the Differently Abled", was held at Gaidimjang community hall, Khoupum in Noney district on Friday during which assistive kits were provided under the schemes of Aids for the Assistance to Disabled Persons (ADIP) and Aids for Visually Impaired (AVI) .
The awareness camp was inaugurated by Hill Areas Committee chairman Dinganglung Gangmei, who is also Nungba AC MLA, as chief guest, in the presence of Noney district chief medical officer Dr Z Kamei, district social welfare officer Singupngam Thaimei, Khoupum 'khullakpa' Gaibirei Kamei, CRC Imphal PNO Subashish and ADC members of Nungba constituency, among others.
As a part of the camp, hearing aids, walking sticks, wheelchairs, tricycles, knee braces, spinal supports, folding commode, and cerebral palsy chair were distributed to individuals with disabilities and senior citizens above 60 years.
Highlighting the significance of supporting those in need during his address, D Gangmei remarked, "Our purpose in life is to help those who need it most.
True greatness is achieved through assisting others.
Although we often pursue wealth and power, our society frequently overlooks those who are in need of our support.
When we are blessed by God to make a positive impact, we must diligently fulfil our responsibilities".
The event marked a significant step towards empowering individuals with disabilities and senior citizens in the region, offering them essential tools to enhance their independence and dignity.
A total of 215 aids and pieces of equipment were distributed to the beneficiaries.
The event was organised in collaboration with the Integrated Mission Project Action for Community Transformation (IMPACT) and the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing-Corporation of India (ALIMCO) .
