TKS backs ANSAM call to hoist Naga National flag on Aug 14

Ukhrul, August 12 2026: The Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS), a Tangkhul student body, has endorsed the decision of the All Naga Students' Union Manipur (ANSAM) to hoist the Naga national flag across Naga-populated areas on August 14 to commemorate the 80th Naga Independence Day.

In a directive issued to its units, ANSAM called for the observance of August 14 and urged strict compliance and enforcement of the decision in the respective districts.

According to the directive, all educational institutions and government and non-government offices in Naga areas have been asked to declare a holiday on August 14 in observance of the 80th Naga Independence Day.

It also called upon shops and other establishments to remain closed until noon on the day.

Backing the directive, the TKS urged all schools and colleges in Ukhrul and Kamjong districts to abstain from attending or participating in the August 15 Independence Day celebrations of India.
