AM-SMDC sets record straight

Imphal, March 11 2013: The All Manipur School Management and Development Committee (AM-SMDC) has alleged that some individuals and groups are demanding hefty amounts as contribution or other pretexts in the name of All Manipur School Management and Development Committee (AM-SMDC).

Besides, the request letters through the Zonal Education Officers for facilitating and extending normal charity and generosity voluntarily by each SMDC, this office does not authorize any individual/group to demand hefty fixed amounts on SMDC, said the Committee general secretary M Worthington.

The imposters are warned by the AM-SMDC not to indulge in such activities as it may prove counterproductive.

Meanwhile, a deliberative meeting of AM-SMDC while indentifying that the Manipur Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) department, the Manipur state Authority and the SMDCs as predominantly responsible entities in deciding the fate of SSA, has cautioned "them" to avoid further jeopardizing the SSA status in Manipur.

"It is noteworthy to mention that SSA contributes a sustainable role in the developing the education system all over India and Manipur state is no exception.

Failure on any part of the aforementioned entities may place SSA at risk and put a permanent stop to the smooth fund flow of SSA from the centre and it tantamounts to deliberately depriving our children's right to education (RTE).

It has been learnt that haphazard formation of SMDCs incongruous to the guidelines are widely prevalent and many SMDCs are found engaging in fraudulent management and implement of SSA funds and schemes.

There are yet erratic officials in both the head office and district offices under SSA department fit to be punished under the services liability rules.

This association shall not tolerate such willful disobedience and non- compliance to rules on anybody's part," Worthington cautions.

"For safeguarding the SSA guidelines SSA guidelines, we have even met the Honourable Union Minister of Human Resource and Development and key officials under MHRD recently to ensure our targets for the cause of the children of Manipur.

However, the door for suggestive inputs from any section including the influential for working out modalities and mechanisms that encourage inclusive co-ordination in the interest of further enhancing the efficiency and productivity of SSA implementation in Manipur is widely opened," Worthington said.
