Imphal, January 10 2026: Renowned cultural and indigenous folk lyricist Moirangthem Indrajit alias MM Meiraba has been bestowed with the Sana Herachandra Award 2026.MM Meiraba has produced several music video albums highlighting Manipuri identity.

The award was handed over at the Chahi Taret Ningsing Numit (National Reconsolidation Day) held at Hojai, Assam organised by Pakhangba Social Welfare Society and Manipuri Cultural Sports Development Society in association with The Man League Manipur (MALEM) with the assistance of Department of Art & Culture yesterday.

Aside from promoting Manipuri culture, MM Meiraba has written Manipuri folk songs in praise of the valour of the brave ancestors who fought in the Anglo-Manipuri War.

The gathering offered floral tributes on the portraits of Maharaj Gambhir Singh and Herachandra.

The event was attended by Soram Chaoba, president, MALEM; Khoirol Nabadip, president, Pakhangba Social Welfare Society; Khaidem Tomba, president, AMMIK and Ksh Jiten, vice chairman, Manipuri Development Council among others.
