Leaders should change mindset to end conflicts: Dr Mani Khuman

Imphal, November 09 2015: Political leaders should not ignite communal feelings for personal gain in a country where different communities live together and if the leaders do not mend their ways, then conflicts in the country will never end, said All Manipur United Club's Organisation President Dr Y Mani Khuman.

He was speaking at the 9th foundation day of Singjamei to Lilong United Clubs Organisation (SLUCO) which was held on Monday at SLUCO head office, Canchipur Heijingang Parking.

Dr Mani Khuman further said that many leaders, who are expert on igniting artificial communal feelings, exist in Manipur.

Government of India has always tried to destabilize Manipur and when a particular issue comes up in the State, the Government brings out another issue and seals the previous issue.

The movement on Inner Line Permit System (ILPS) has somehow vanished after the Naga Peace Accord entered into the scene.

So, before launching any mass agitations, political as well as Civil Society Organisation leaders need to change concepts and their mindset to avoid unwanted conflict, said the AMUCO President.

SLUCO President S Rameshwor said that political parties and their leaders do not take the issues of Manipur seriously.

The leaders have always failed to bring solutions in every issue.

Manipur's Kabaw valley was given to Myanmar after the State was merged in India.

Nagas' inhabited in Manipur are not Meetei's enemy but few sections of people have made it look like real, which are not happening.

Civil society organisations and local clubs has to play a big role on it, said Rameshwor and added that out of 62 clubs in SLUCO, only around 30 clubs are performing their duties.

The function was also attended by SCLUCO advisor W Gonendro, NRC President Haobam Sanajaoba and AMUCO advisor KT Rehman among others.
