'Waree Leeba Phangnaba' organised at Tentha Heibung

Thoubal, August 09 2026: A one-day production of "Waree Leeba Phangnaba" was organised at Tentha Heibung Community Hall today by Guru Ibungo Sharma Sangeet Vidyalaya, Tentha Heibung, with the aim of promoting and preserving the traditional storytelling art form.

Social activist and National Awardee Ksh Priyobata Singh attended the programme as chief guest, while retired professor of Kakching Khunou College Ningthou Naoria presided as functional president.

Guru Ibungo Sharma Sangeet Vidyalaya president Y Jugindro, Minor Irrigation Department Executive Engineer Y Ibohal Singh and World Meetei Council secretary Bemlei Maibam were the guests of honour.

As part of the programme, the dignitaries and participants offered floral tributes and paid homage to departed gurus associated with the traditional art form.

Appreciation certificates were also distributed to the participants who took part in the Waree Leeba Phangnaba production.

The programme highlighted the importance of preserving traditional performing arts and passing the rich cultural heritage of Manipur on to younger generations.
