Rongmei Naga Council, Manipur (RNCM) condemned the physical assault, severely injuring villagers of Konsakhul, Liangmei village, on April 5 by armed miscreants belonging to Kuki community.
A release issued RNCM general secretary Gailanchung Kamei made it clear that such wilful indulgence, subjecting the victims to such serious injuries or the attempted murder by Kukis against Nagas brethren should be seriously dealt with.
The perpetrators of such barbaric act should with full remorse admit this action as an act of crime against humanity and the Nagas in particular.
Subjecting the innocent unarmed civilians to such intimidation and threat with lethal weapons, which might possibly led to the loss of lives, is considered a matter of serious concern, he denounced.
The general secretary further appealed to all concerned to book the culprit at the earliest and deliver justice timely to the victims as per the customary law, traditionally practised by the Nagas since times immemorial.
"What is even more surprising is the false justification made by the World Kuki-Zo community, deliberately misleading the story based on communal consciousness, which might have serious repercussion to the harmonious co-existence of communities which the Nagas at this present Meitei-Kuki's communal feud is extremely cautious in maintaining neutrality," he remarked, adding that Rongmeis in Manipur stand in solidarity with the Liangmei brethren in such trying times.
