Imphal, March 08 2025:
Manipur Technical University (MTU), in collaboration with Karkinos Manipur Cancer Care Institute and Research Centre, organised a cancer awareness programme to educate participants on cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment, with special focus on palliative care for end-stage patients.
The programme, held at the university on Friday, featured lectures by Dr Y Indibor and Dr Nandan Choudhary.
Dr Indibor highlighted the importance of early detection and symptoms of cancer, emphasising that awareness at the initial stages significantly improves treatment outcomes as Dr Nandan Choudhary focused on palliative care, stressing that it is not just about end-of-life support but an integral part of cancer treatment from the point of diagnosis.
Addressing the gathering, the MTU registrar emphasised the university's vision to extend beyond classroom learning and actively engage with communities across the state.
He reiterated that the programme is just the beginning and assured to undertake similar initiatives to address both academic and societal challenges.
Conducted as part of MTU's community outreach initiative, the programme had active participation of volunteers of Moirang Hanuba Youth Development Club and Moirang Hanuba Meira Paibi.
Faculty members, staff, and students of MTU also attended the programme.
