Tapasya stages 'Maibi Kanglei Thokpa'

Imphal, June 07 2026: Artists of Tapasya today presented "Maibi Kanglei Thokpa", a segment of Lai Haraoba, at Singjamei Wangma Pebia Pandit Leikai Community Hall.

The production was staged under the Ministry of Culture's Cultural Function and Production Grant Scheme.

Vice president Y Sarita said the performance followed a 45-day workshop held from April 20 to June 5 .

She noted the production seeks to preserve Lai Haraoba traditions and share its underlying philosophy with the public.

"Lai Haraoba is not merely ritual dance; it embodies social, family, agricultural, household, and moral codes", she said, urging collective efforts to safeguard the ancestral heritage for future generations.
