Imphal, April 07 2009: On the occasion of marking the world health day, the health experts have requested the projection and construction of secure hospitals, training of health professionals, the readjustment of existing health institutions in order to make them more sustainable and in order to be sure that the personnel and the equipment are secure during natural catastrophes, conflicts, epidemics and other emergencies.

Like in other parts of the globe, in Manipur also many organizations organized functions to mark the observation with the theme, "Save lives, make hospitals safe in emergency.

State medical directorate observed the day in association with the Manipur Voluntary Health Association, Wankhei at the later office at Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal.

Director of state health services, Dr W Motilal attended the function as guest of honour.

In one of the functions organized by Indian Medical Association, Manipur unit at its office Lamphel, RIMS superintendent Dr Mohen said that in the state, people suffering casualties in the arm conflict is far more then that caused by the natural disasters and others.

He also observed the need for making hospitals safe for emergency purpose so as to reduce the inconveniences that may come up in efforting to save life at the time of any accident or incident.

The function was, among other, attended by Dr L Fimate as chief guest which was presided by IMA state unit president, Dr AD.

Another such function organized by the Empowerment of Community for Human Education and Multitude (ECHEM) and Action and Implementation for Development (AID) at Chingmakha.

The chief guest of the function, member of the Manipur Human Rights, NG Nongyai speaking on the occasion said the unrestraint killing of people in the conflict riddle state has resulted most of the people suffering of mental illness.

Mental illness is the most dangerous one and a good government is a must for leading a live without anxiety.

He said, it would be right one for all making efforts to develop hospitals expressing concern over the deteriorating conditions of the government run healthcare centres day by day.
