Imphal, July 05 2026: The closing function of the 37-Day Theatre Education Programme on the theme "Theatre for Generation Change" was held today at the DIPR Auditorium, Nityaipat Chuthek.

Organised by Manipuri Theatre Academy, Wangoi, in collaboration with the Directorate of Art & Culture, Manipur, and supported by the Forest Department and ZEO, Wangoi, the programme aimed to nurture young talent and promote theatre as a tool for social change.

Chief guest Kh Loken Singh, Minister for Art & Culture and Tourism, said culture is an integral part of education and stressed that discipline is key to preserving and promoting it.

He urged students to uphold discipline in both life and art.

Referring to the three-year crisis in the State, the Minister said it has affected all sectors and called for collective efforts to revive the State's rich culture and other affected areas.

He also announced government approval for construction of a theatre Wangoi Dramatic Union, assuring early execution of the project Certificates were distributed to students and mentors.

Participants presented dance performances.
