Imphal, January 05 2008: WITH GOVERNANCE estimation of unemployment related with the militancy problem, keeping this view in mind and with an objective to help increase employability to deal effectively with unemployment and militancy problem in the state, a State Level Skill Development Missions has been constituted with chief minister a chairman.

Ministers of education, ITI, science and technology, deputy chairman of the state planning board, chief secretary, principal secretaries of planning, finance, higher education, commissioners of higher education, school education, science and technology and IT, secretary of state social and family welfare department are the members of the mission which commissioner ITI is the member secretary, official source said.

The constitution of the State Level Skill Development Missions is also related with an intimation received from the Prime Minister's office asking the state government asking the state authority to consider and take suitable action for the acceleration of skill development activities in the state, the source said.

Apart from this, the state also feels the sorry state of not equipping the students who acquire college/university degree for employment in the emerging new sectors offering excellent employment opportunities to persons who acquire the requisite skills.

Authorities of the state government also feel the need for imparting training skill development in all spheres of life to improve the employability of the youth graduates/post graduates being churned out by the colleges and universities.

A sector specific courses need to be developed for skill development, the government observed stating that it will help effectively deal with unemployment and militancy problem in the state.

Among other, the mission will give emphasis to identify sectors, courses and training centres for skill development and which can provides modern skill for which ITI may be given greater responsibility.

The government authority also view on the involvement of more centres like the ICM Lamphelpat, DOEEC, Akhampat in the skill development as these institutes are also imparting training in skill development in the state.

The mission will also identified colleges which can make available for skill development activities after the class hour.

The State Level Skill Development Missions will also formulate an action plan for the skill development, the source said.
