Imphal, October 02 2025: A 1-day refresher course on "3 New Criminal Laws 2023" was conducted today at Lamsang Police Station, Imphal by Phuritsangbam Chaoba Devi, Assistant Public Prosecutor, Imphal West and Salam Dwananda Singh, Advocate, Panel Lawyer, Imphal West.

The event was organised as per the direction of the Superintendent of Police, Imphal West.

Altogether, 70 police personnel participated in the refresher course.

Notably, in December 2023, the Indian Parliament passed three new criminal laws that became effective on July 1, 2024, replacing the British-era Indian Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure, and Indian Evidence Act.

These new laws are the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) 2023, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) 2023 .
