MPCC leaders urge Muslim voters to reject BJP at Minorities Meet

Imphal, August 02 2026: Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) vice president Bidyapati Senjam on Sunday said voting for the BJP amounts to "sin against God" and urged Muslim voters in the State to reject the party.

Speaking at a "Minorities Leaders Meet" organised by Heingang Block Congress Committee at Kairang Muslim Umang, Bidyapati alleged that the BJP Government is promoting communal politics.

He cited the reported directive for school students to respond "Jai Shri Ram" during attendance as an attempt to divide communities.

He further alleged that the BJP Government is disrespecting minorities, including Muslims and Christians.

Bidyapati appealed to voters to strengthen Congress to bring back a Congress Government in Manipur.

He also urged voters to reject money influence in elections, saying BJP distributes public money during polls.

MPCC secretary and spokesperson Pangeijam Saratchandra said Congress will return to power.

He alleged that while the previous Congress Government gave ministerial berths to all communities, the current BJP Government has no Muslim Minister.

He added that the BJP is working to establish a "Hindu-only" Government in India.

Around 250 people who earlier supported BJP and other parties joined Congress at the event.
