Imphal, July 02 2024:
Aimol Students' Union, Manipur (ASUM) has condemned looting of the house of one Dr Sialloa Khupkhothang Aimol at New Lambulane near Tribal Market, in broad day light and damaging of various medical equipment and properties on Monday.
In a release, ASUM noted that central forces are deployed close to the house of Dr Sialloa, who belongs to Aimol community.
While a government doctor is on duty serving the public 24 hours, his home can't even be protected by state government and central forces, it lamented.
When queried central forces deployed at the said area contended that they don't have any order to intervene and protect any property but are there just for ROP, ASUM further said, while opining that such a stand clearly reflect that police and central forces deployed at various places are discharging duty only for namesake, while denouncing the failure of maintaining law and order in the state.
Enquiring why no action has been taken up against individual (s) who loot property and abduct people, the release appealed against repeating such unethical act in the future.
The majority Meetei and various CSOs of the valley always look forward to peace but few miscreants are trying to take advantage of the on-going crisis.
Cautioning against infringing on property or affronting person belonging to Naga tribe, ASUM cautioned that such recklessness would spark outrage and lead to irreconcilable misunderstanding.
Reminding that Aimol community has been maintaining neutrality since the crisis broke out, it prayedfor return-of peace in the state.
