Pambei-led UNLF recovers drugs

The Pambei-led United National Liberation Front (UNLF) reportedly recovered drugs worth over Rs 61 lakh in international market on May 31 with the recovered drugs destroyed after handing them over to the people.
The recovered drugs include 1 kg Brown sugar and Heroin concealed in 40 soap cases and 75 vials worth Rs 61 lakh in international market, a statement of the Pambei-led UNLF said.
According to a statement issued by media coordinator Charairongba Thokchom, a special team of the Front raided Hatta bazar in Imphal East district and nabbed driver of a vehicle carrying drugs named Moinam Ummar son of late Ali of Keibung Makha Leikai along with one Chetsabam Sahidur, 39 son of Ch Burhan of Irong Umang, who provides courier service for contraband drugs.
During initial questioning, Sahidur disclosed that the seized drugs belong to one Chetsabam Juma-Khan, 40 son of Ch Mantri of Irong Mathak Leikai while he (Ch Sahidur) transports the drugs till Guwahati at the rate of Rs 40,000 as transportation charge.
The statement further said that the recovered drugs were handed over to womenfolk of Langol Apunba Meirapaibi Lup, Universal Mothers' Organisation and World Meitei Organisation who instantly burned the contraband drugs in front of public.
The Front also informed drugs owner Ch Juma-Khan to surrender within five days.
