Tribute paid to Late Maj Bob Khathing at Ukhrul Memorial

Ukhrul, March 01 2026:
A solemn wreath-laying ceremony was organised on February 28 at the Late Maj Bob Khathing Memorial, Awungtang, Ukhrul, to commemo rate the birth anniversary of the distinguished officer and to honour his lasting legacy in the region.
Senior officials from Headquarters, 10 Assam Rifles, laid a wreath at the memorial as a mark of remembrance, said a press note issued by IGAR (S) .
The ceremony witnessed the participation of representatives from the Deputy Commissioner's Office, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Ukhrul, Hunphun village headmen, and the clan leader of the Relengnao tribe.
It is worth noting that Late Major Bob Khathing holds a distinguished place in history for his decisive and peaceful expedition to Tawang in 1951, where he formally established Indian administrative presence in the region.
The ceremony included a moment of silence in his honour.
