Ukhrul, July 31 2025:
Tangkhul Naga people-based organisations in Ukhrul district are gearing up to mark the anniversary of the 2015 Framework Agreement on August 3 with a mass public rally, to pressurise the Government of India for a decisive resolution to the protracted Naga political issue.
Speaking to The People's Chronicle on Thursday, Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) vice president Omry Ningshen informed that collective Tangkhul frontal organisations have initiated this year's commemoration to raise the voices of the people, protesting the lack of substantial progress from the Indian government, despite the Framework Agreement having been signed more than a decade ago.
He also said that the event seeks to urge all Nagas to participate and press for a lasting solution, adding that the day's commemoration will be marked by a mass public rally, where participants will raise slogans.
The procession is set to commence from two distinct points - Dungrei Junction and Kharasom Junction - and will converge at the district headquarters ground for a public meeting scheduled for 12 pm, he added.
At the public gathering, TNL president Sword Vashum will hoist the Naga National flag to officially open the proceedings.
WTR (NSCN/GPRN) secretary Athot Ngashangva will deliver a presidential speech followed by a short speech from WTR (NSCN/GPRN) CAO 'Capt' (Retd) Samson Jajo.
Meanwhile, the collective organisations issued a clarion call, stating: "On this Framework Agreement Day, let us rise not just in remembrance but in resolve.
The time has come for every Naga - young and old, in the hills and the plains, across borders - to lend their voice to peace with dignity.
Let us demand the fulfilment of the Framework Agreement and walk together toward a shared destiny.
Our silence will delay our future, but our united voice will shape it" .
