DCs caution denizens; IGAR (S) on high alert

In view of the warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall in various districts issued by the 1MD, the district administrations of Imphal West, Kakching, Noney and Jiribam have cautioned the denizens to remain alert and take necessary precautions to avoid any loss of life and property.
In separate notifications, district magistrates/deputy commissioners of Imphal West (Dr Nivedita Lairenlakpam), Kakching (Rohit Anand), Noney (Sharath Chandra Arroju) and Jiribam (Krishna Kumar) advised the people to stay informed, keep updated with the latest weather forecasts and warnings issued by local, state and national authorities.
They also urged the denizens to ignore rumours and stay calm and do not panic; reinforce old doors and windows and secure loose objects in houses; prepare emergency kit with essential items such as non-perishable foods, water, torch lights, first aid supplies, medicines for safety and survival; stay away from flood prone areas, landslide prone areas, rivers and streams, and immediately move toward safer places; and to stay indoors, close windows and doors and avoid travel if possible.

Meanwhile, Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) has activated dedicated flood relief helpline numbers for Imphal West, Imphal East and Kakching districts to ensure rapid response and support to those affected by flood-related emergencies.
According to PRO IGAR (S), the flood relief helpline numbers for Imphal West and Imphal East is +91-8652075170 and for Kakching +91-7650017209.These lines will be manned 24x7 by trained personnel, ready to coordinate with local authorities and swiftly deploy rescue teams, medical assistance and essential relief supplies wherever needed.
During the devastating floods following Cyclone Remal, last year, Assam Rifles stood at the forefront of relief efforts under Operation Jalrahat, rescuing over 6,500 people from severely affected areas in Imphal and surrounding regions.
As first responders, Assam Rifles deployed 16 columns round the clock, carried out emergency medical evacuations, restored vital infrastructure including breached embankments and damaged bridges and undertook large scale sanitation and disinfection drives to prevent disease outbreaks.
More than 5,000 food packets and 8,000 water bottles were distributed, while the force also worked alongside civil administration to restore essential services and stability across the state, the PRO pointed out.
Building on the success and experience of that operation, Assam Rifles remains fully prepared to respond swiftly and decisively to any flood situation this year, the PRO informed while also assuring that the people of Manipur can rely on Assam Rifles.
