Let's stop the virus of buying votes: RK Shivchandra
"Keishamthong denizens are not fools, cannot be bought with money"

Imphal, August 29 2021: Launching his election campaign on Sunday, intending candidate Rk Shivchandra has appealed to the people of Keishamthong AC to help put a 'stop to the prevailing virus of trying to buy votes with money' .

Speaking at the launch function organised at his Kwakeithel residence, Rk Shivchandra noted that some people, who have decided to contest in the elections for the first time, seem to regard the people of Keishamthong AC as fools.

However, the denizens of Keishamthong are not dumb and cannot be easily bought with money, he contended.

Shivchandra continued that he had been contributing endlessly to ease the suffering of the people amid the pandemic, while also adhering to the Covid-19 SOP and guidelines.

Unfortunately, there have been many questioning whether he plans to contest the polls and spreading false propaganda.

This act of some people trying to buy the votes of the people from time to time is not witnessed in any other constituency, he remarked, while refuting the claims that other candidates have gone silent due to such 'corrupt' acts.

Questioning if the said people would continue distributing money and assisting in the admission of the children of the AC even after the polls, Shivchandra further questioned if they could continue to pay Rs 2000 per attendee in a meeting for the long term.

"Keishamthong AC has produced Chief Ministers in the past and the people are generally understanding of the overall situation.

The new entrants for the polls should stop taking the people to be brainless", he remarked, while urging the people to help put a stop to this practice of buying votes with money or else no candidate would be able to win if they could not pay Rs 2000 to per attendee during every meeting.

Exhorting the people of the constituency, Shivchandra then conveyed that he will be contesting the upcoming polls as a BJP candidate, while emphasising that BJP is a humble political party, which maintains transparency.

Analysing his defeat in the last election, the intending candidate said that it was unanimously decided by the candidates at the time to support the candidate who gets the party ticket, but he was betrayed at the last moment.

Nonetheless, the one who wins the ticket this time will be supported by all.

"In the last election, I received around 5000 votes.

However, it seems the new entrants are under the assumption that they cannot win the votes if they have not done anything during the pandemic", he observed.

Shivchandra continued: "Over the past 15 years, I have been working for the people of Keishamthong AC and providing assistance wherever required.

The new entrants cannot suppress the efforts with their little tactics considering they are still unaware about the total population, the number of localities, etc, in the constituency.

They (candidates) do not even hold a stick to my hard work".

Stating that upcoming polls will be the last time for him, Shivchandra said that if he wins, it would be a new path for him as he has not made any backup plans like the other candidates.

"There has never been an incident of a candidate contesting the elections and winning a ticket just on money power alone in the history of Keishamthong AC.

There is no means of knowing what the candidates, who are showering love to the people today, would do once they win the election", he said and urged for all to take a pledge to end this "virus" once and for all.
