Bio-Fertilizer Field Demo held in Imphal East

Imphal, June 28 2026: A 'Farmers Field Level Demonstration on Use of Bio-Fertilizer 2.0 in Paddy Field' was held Sunday at Keimang Loukon Phouoibee Loubuk between Lamlai and Napet in Lamlai AC, Imphal East.

The Agriculture Department and Green Biotech Eco Solution Pvt Ltd organised the event under Khet Bachao Abhiyan to promote bio-fertilizer use.

Agriculture Director Peter Salam said last year's experiment on 20 hectares cut chemical fertilizer use by 25% while raising yield.

This year, the same area targets a 50% reduction.

Another 110 hectares across five aspirational districts will also use bio/organic fertilizers to lower chemical use by 25%, he added.

He urged farmers to use chemicals only as experts advise and shift to bio-fertilizers for sustainable farming.

Lamlai AC MLA Kh Ibomcha noted PM Modi's schemes, crop insurance, and machinery subsidies, and encouraged bio-fertilizer adoption.

Green Biotech Director Dr Asem Sundari said the firm has produced 30+ bio-products since 2016 and will continue supporting organic farming.

Kh Ibomcha also planted paddy and initiated bio-fertilizer application.
