AMUFFA celebrates foundation day

Imphal, January 28 2025:
All Manipur United Fish Farmers' Association (AMUFFA) celebrated its second foundation anniversary at All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) hall located at Kwakeithel on Tuesday.
In a release, AMUFFA informed that the celebration was attended by AMUCO president Nando Luwang as chief guest, AMUFFA president Mayengbam Bimolchand as president, AMUCO vice president Dr Norendro Thokchom and secretary general Pratap Leishangthem as guests of honour.
AMUFFA general secretary Opener Wahengbam presented the annual report and also highlighted upcoming activities of the association to the fish farmers.
Along with the support of Fisheries Department, AMUFFA released 2 lakhs fingerlings from 2023-24 in different community ponds.
Moreover, the association took vital roles making it a successful fish fair.
The release further informed that training programmes would be conducted in different localities from April, 2025 under the supervision of AMUFFA.
Speaking as chief guest, AMUCO president Nando emphasised the significance of fish in Manipuri society, noting that fish dish is an integral part of various programmes and rituals, spanning from birth to death.
Expressing concerned over gradual disappearance of indigenous fish and frozen fish markets thriving in the state, he cautioned that chemically-treated frozen fish could cause health complications to the consumers.
