ICAR Secretary reviews research activities in Manipur

Imphal, September 27 2026: Gyanendra Dev Tripathi, Additional Secretary, DARE and Secretary, ICAR, visited the ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre, Lamphelpat on Sunday to review its research and extension activities.

He also reviewed the activities of its five KVKs - Imphal West, Churachandpur, Chandel, Tamenglong and Ukhrul.

A display of agricultural products, technologies and research outputs was arranged.

Head of Regional Centre Dr S Basanta Singh explained their practical applications and presented major achievements and ongoing programmes.

Tripathi interacted with scientists and staff, and discussed progress, challenges, farmer training and technology demonstrations.

He appreciated the Centre's work and suggested enhancing its revenue-generation target in coming years with greater emphasis on promotion and commercialization of technologies.

The visit focused on strengthening research to address farmers' needs and promote sustainable agriculture in Manipur and the North East.
