Two arrested, weapons recovered

Imphal, June 26 2025:
Security forces arrested two cadres of banned organisations and recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition in separate operations, according to a statement issued by the police control room.
On Wednesday, a cadre of Pambei-led UNLF, identified as Moirangthem Premjit Meitei alias Papu (47) of Soibam Leikai, Imphal East district, was arrested from his residence.
Police recovered two 9 mm pistols with two magazines and 17 rounds from his possession.
In a separate operation on Tuesday, one cadre of KCP (People's War Group), was apprehended from one of the floating huts in Loktak Lake at Champu Khangpok under Keibul Lamjao police station in Bishnupur district.
The arrested individual has been identified as Mutum Manaocha Singh alias Khullakpa (44) of Tronglaobi Makha Leikai.
From his possession, one 9 mm pistol with a magazine and two rounds were seized.
According to police, the floating huts were being used as makeshift transit camps and hideouts by underground cadres.
A thorough search of the huts led to the recovery of various logistic items including blankets, a gas stove, a table fan, pressure cooker, and utensils, indicating their use as shelters.
The structures have since been dismantled.
Further searches based on disclosures made by the arrested cadre led to the recovery of additional arms and ammunition from Nachou Awang Leikai under Bishnupur PS.
These included one MA-1 rifle with three magazines, 31 rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition, and two SMG carbines along with two magazines.
