Governor hopes Shah visits state to end conflict

Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey has expressed hope that Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit the state to end the ethnic strife lingering for over a year.
Speaking to media persons on Wednesday on the sidelines of flagging off an ambulance of Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Senapati district branch, which she donated, Governor Anusuiya recalled her meetings with President of India along with state governors and Union Health Minister.
Stating that she had requested the President to extend all possible assistance to the state in view of the situation arising out of the conflict which broke out in May last year, the Governor disclosed that the President accepted her request and consequently initiated despatch of 11 trucks of relief materials.
Regarding the meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi, she conveyed that the Union Home Minister assured of restoring peace and normalcy in the state and end the conflict between Meetei and Kuki by meeting with both the conflicting parties.
As such, she expressed hope that the Union Home Minister will visit the state to personally oversee resolution to the conflict.
On the other-hand Anusuiya hoped that the ambulance will help cater to needs of the people in Senapati and Kangpokpi districts.
She also commended efforts of the team IRCS in humanitarian services.
On the recent flood that wreaked havoc in many parts of the state, the Governor said, IRCS has been trying to reach out to the affected people.
IRCS state secretary A Nabachandra, state management committee member RS Avel, IRCS Senapati branch chairman Benjamin Tao and other members of IRCS attended the ceremony.
