6th MR distributes drinking water in Ukhrul town

Ukhrul, February 26 2026: In a humanitarian initiative to address the acute water crisis in Ukhrul town, the 6th Manipur Rifles has launched a mobile drinking water distribution programme to ensure safe water supply to residents, particularly students appearing for the ongoing HSSLC and HSLC Examinations 2026.Speaking to our correspondent, Commandant of 6th MR, Ksh Ravikumar Singh, said the initiative was undertaken after observing the immense difficulties faced by the student community due to the shortage of potable water.

He noted that the dying up of spring sources and the depletion of natural water bodies have added to the challenges during the crucial examination period.

As part of the ongoing effort, the battalion is scheduled to extend the distribution drive to the Seipet Tang area along the Eastern circular road on the following day.
