Imphal, June 25 2009:
The inter-club football tournament organized by the 85 battalion CRPF as apart of its civic action programme commenced from June 18 last concluded today at Kotlein in Senapati district.
The concluding function was attended by IGP, CRPF Imphal, MS Ragvana as chief guest and commandant of 85 battalion SL Sengupta, deputy commandant W S Singh and deputy commandant of F/26 AR, Kotlein Shyamal Powan as president and guest of honours respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, Ragvana said that CRPF has been taking up various activities to build up the sense of oneness among the people of the state.
He also expressed concern over the extortion of money mean for development released by the Centre to Manipur by the underground elements.
The extortion activities of the underground have hindered the development activities in the state, he observed.
He appealed the gathering people not to impart any kind of help to the underground elements.
In the tournament which eight teams participated, S Lajang Youth Club and Kharam Youth Club played the final match today.
S Lanjang emerged as champion of the tournament by defeating Kharam Youth Club by 4-1.Jersey no.9 Lalboy of S Lajang village was declared as best player of the tournament.
The CRPF authority also distributed Disc TV along with TV sets to the villages located in the Kotlien and its surrounding and two computer sets to the Kharam Pallel village as help under the civic action programme.
