Imphal, September 23 2025:
In a heartfelt celebration of World Rose Day, Assam Rifles reached out to border communities across Chandel district to spread awareness about cancer and promote preventive healthcare.
The observance took place in the villages of Aibol Joupi, Sehlon, Phoilen, Kovang, Tuitong, Old Samtal, and New Samtal, drawing active participation from 275 villagers duly conducted by the soldiers and officials of the Assam Rifles.
World Rose Day, observed globally to honour the courage of cancer patients and survivors, served as a poignant backdrop for the day's events.
The initiative aimed to foster hope, resilience, and collective responsibility in the fight against cancer, while also strengthening the emotional and social bonds between Assam Rifles and the communities it serves.
The programme commenced with an interactive awareness session led by Assam Rifles personnel and medical staff, focusing on early detection, available treatment options, and lifestyle choices that contribute to long-term health.
A health check-up camp followed, offering consultations and basic medical care, with special attention to women and children.
To further energize the occasion, friendly volleyball matches were held at Kovang and Old Samtal between local youth and troops, reinforcing the importance of physical activity and teamwork.
A poster campaign ran concurrently, with villagers and soldiers contributing creative messages that reflected the spirit of World Rose Day - hope, empathy, and unity.
