Imphal, June 23 2026: A one-day free comprehensive eye screening camp was organised at Phoijing Awang Youth Club Building, Bishnupur district, on Tuesday.

The camp was jointly organised by Shija Eye Care Foundation (SECF), National Programme for Control of Blindness and Visual Impairment (NPCB&VI), Manipur Chapter, and Phoijing Awang Youth Club (PAYC).

A team of eye care professionals led by Dr Priyalaxmi Chakpram, Consultant Ophthalmologist, Shija Eye Care Foundation, conducted eye screening for 133 individuals.

During the screening, six cases of pterygium, 11 cases of cataract and one case of squint were detected.

Eight individuals were referred to the base hospital for further evaluation and management The organisers stated that such an initiative was organised with the objective of promoting early detection and timely treatment of eye disorders.
