'Cease Fire is the license for goondaism to NSCN-IM'

Imphal, December 22 2012: All Manipur United Clubs Organisation (AMUCO) has endorsed the indefinite Manipur bandh being called jointly by Film Forum Manipur and Manipur State Shumang Leela Council since last midnight, saying that it is the right approach.

Addressing media persons at its office at Kwakeithel here today, President of AMUCO, KT Rehman, stated that the incident of molesting and assaulting film actress Momoco by one Livingstone, a cadre of NSCN-IM on December 18 during a musical concert at Chandel head quarter is very unfortunate and deserves to be condemned in the strongest terms.

Rehman pointed out that there have been a number of crimes where NSCN-IM cadres are involved.

The Government of India has let free of those involved in the crime of killing of Dr Kishan, SDO of Kashom Khullen and two of his staffs, forced disappearance of Irabanta, who had been abducted by NSCN-IM.

The incident of molestation and assault of Momoco and the attempt to kill two other artists by shooting at them from point blank range is the latest incident where NSCN-IM is involved.

The Cease Fire agreement signed between the NSCN-IM and the Government of India is nothing but giving the license for goondaism to NSCN-IM.

The Government of Manipur should urge the Central Government to arrest Livingstone and hand it over to the State Government for taking up necessary legal action in accordance to the law of the land, Rehman said.

He lamented that on a number of occasions, the Government of Manipur has shown its inability to arrest any cadre of NSCN-IM without the approval from the Government of India.

He also pointed out that MLAs in Nagaland have taken up the issue of NSCN-IM and pressed the Centre to bringing together all the Nagas under one administration.

But the MLAs of Manipur do not have the guts even to discuss the issue of protecting the territorial integrity of the State with the Central government.

Rehman reiterated that AMUCO stands for the territorial integrity of Manipur and not an inch of Manipur can be given away to anyone.

The organization is against the alternative arrangement; supra state body, autonomy and sixth schedule.
