Displaced Hmar people of Jiribam return homes

Hmar people of Jiribam who fled to Cachar district of Assam due to violence in the district some months back have started returning to their respective homes and leading normal life from Wednesday.
A large team of Jiribam district police and CRPF personnel escorted the displaced Hmar people to their respective homes on Wednesday.
The development comes after Jiribam district administration held a series of meetings with representatives of Meetei and Hmar communities to bring back normalcy in the district.
According to a police source.
Hmar residents of Kalinagar area of Jiribam fled to Cachar district of Assam after violence spread to Jiribam district some months back.
However, Jiribam district administration put in enormous efforts to bring back peace and normalcy in the district and even arranged joint meetings for representatives of both Meetei and Hmar communities.
After a series of such joint meetings, displaced people of both the warring communities are now beginning to return back to their respective homes with peace and normalcy being restored.
Meanwhile, Hmar residents of Kalinagar, who returned back to their homes on Wednesday, thanked Jiribam district administration, district police and CRPF for their efforts to bring back peace and escorting them to their respective homes.
