Senapati, June 18 2024:
While extending support to Senapati District Gas Agency Association (SDGAA), Senapati District Truck Owners' Association (SDTOA) has strongly condemned harassment of LPG truck drivers and helpers in Kangpokpi district by Kuki miscreants.
In a condemnation note, SDTOA said that the LPG transporters have been ensuring adequate flow of LPG supply to entire Senapati district despite immense hardships and inconveniences they often faced.
In the latest incident of harassment, an LPG truck carrying empty cylinders and returning to Sekmai Bottling Plant after delivering LPG refills in Senapati district was detained by some miscreants at Hengbung in Kangpokpi district.
The driver along with the labourers were taken to Taphou Kuki village, wherein they were served monetary demand and threatened to shoot in Kangpokpi if they inform anyone about the incident.
Similar incidents of harassing truck drivers and helpers were reported in the past.
Because of all such harassments by the Kukis, all the LPG truck drivers are not willing to come to Senapati district'resulting in shortage of cooking gas in the district, SDTOA said.
The Association then urged CoTU and law enforcing agencies to initiate necessary and strict action to book perpetrators and do justice to the innocent drivers so as to prevent such acts of barbarism in future.
