Thoubal, April 18 2026:
The Thoubal Ningthou Lainingthou Lairembi Thougal Lup has appealed the public to take part in the "Ibudhou Ibendhou Chahi Kum Chanba" ritual slated for April 29 .
Additionally, the Lup has urged people to start attending their respective Umang Laikol on the first/Nongma Panba of every month and suggested launching classes on indigenous artforms and games/sports.
Speaking to the media at the sacred grounds of Thoubal Ningthou Ibudhou Ibendhou Shanglen, Thoubal Ningthou Lainingthou Lairembi Thougal Lup president S Roben Mangang shared that the annual Lai Haraoba festival of Thoubal Ningthou Ibudhou Ibendhou was slated to be held from April 19 to April 29 .
However, adhering to the conditions set by UKAL in view of the prevailing restive situation in Manipur, it was decided that only the Kum Chanba ceremony will be solemnized on April 29, he said.
Urging people to attend the event, he also appealed them to develop the habit of visiting the Umang Laikols on the first of every month as per the Manipuri calendar.
The Thoubal Ningthou Laibung launched this custom last year along with classes on Thang-Ta, traditional dance and indigenous games.
He appealed for adoption of these customs which will uplift indigenous artforms and games across all Umang Laikols in the State.
