IGAR (SOUTH) organised media interaction program

A media interaction program with KG Suresh, Director General of Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) and Mayank Agarwal, Additional Director General of Indian Information Service (IIS) was organised today at Head Quarter (HQ) IGAR (South) at Mantripukhri, Imphal West District.
Interacting with the media persons, KG Suresh said that the whole idea of the interaction program is to give awareness about the information of mass communication.
IIMC have been playing a major role in the field of mass communication since its establishment in the year 1965 and various mass communication and information technology firms and institute have been compared with IIMC till date, he added.
Suresh also said that being a prestigious institute of mass communication, since the year 1969, over 1500 foreign journalists from 126 countries have been trained including media persons.
The trained foreign journalist also occupied the key communication position in their country as well as India's unofficial ambassadors.
With through study, it has been found out that India has a huge growing demand on regional language in the field of journalism and mass communication.
Taking note of it IIMC is launching a regional language program at each campus for those who want to study the regional language courses from the coming session except for Delhi main campus and some other who focus on English journalism.
Suresh further explain the important role played by communicative radio station (CRS) in the country.
Since the establishment of CRS in the year 2003 and 2004, only 206 radio stations have been set up in the country so far where few educational institutes and NGO's are allowed to set the CRS.
Ministry of Information and Broadcasting have taken up various initiatives by providing training on CRS in different aspect for those who are interest in this field and different courses of CRS are providing free of course which they even plan to implement it almost at all the campus across the country including Aizawl (North-East), he added.
Altogether there are 19 centers of IMC across the country which provide post graduate diploma courses to the post graduate students including 4 different courses in journalism and those who are eligible are given interview and group discussion at Delhi from which they are selected.
IIMC has 6 campuses across the country, main campus at New Delhi including the North Eastern Campus at Aizawl, Mizoram and once the construction of Aizawl campus is finish, they plan to establish it as the main hub for journalist for the entire North-East.
